I have used a cell phone since it was a clumsy, boxy portable phone I kept in my car! In all those years I never relied on my cell phone to take photographs, read my email, send text messages, or vote for my favorite singing "IDOL". And I always resented having to pay for all
I know there are many of you who find some/many/all of these services essential. But there are many still that have not. Getting a cell phone without these services and not have to pay for them is very difficult.
Not only that, but the buttons were getting too small for me to cleanly hit them anymore when dialing and the print was getting dimmer and smaller and next to impossible to read.
Fortunately I did hang in there and once I tried the "Jitterbug", I knew why. Here was a flip phone which is brightly backlit and with buttons that are easy to use. And I didn't have to wade through all those extra functions to get to the basic reasons I still had a phone: 1. I could now make outgoing calls and receive incoming calls, while away from my landline, with ease. 2. I still had a phone book but one that I found much easier to use. And 3. to top it off, my phone understands my verbal input and commands and, if that is not enough, 4. there is always a real human voice that you can contact for whatever reason, 24/7 at the touch of a single key!
People, early on,told me this was just a scam to lure older persons back in the cellular family. WRONG! There were no claims made about the Jitterbug in their advertising that did not exist.
Others told me there were hidden and outrageously expensive charges for the Jitterbug serives. WRONG again! I am actually coming out ahead using one of the flexible billing systems Jitterbug offers.
I am happy with my Jitterbug and would have been even happier should it have been available 20 years ago before I retired!! Because, it is not just for us older folks! It is also for those who,like myself,find that their cellular services did not measure up against those fees charged for them!
Worse yet, in my experience, many of those services I am talking about did not really exist before the cellular companies first presented them as essential to us out here. And thinking through the situation very carefully, I have found that I can think of many other services or business where I could have invested my money more wisely than on camera phones or text messages.

This is the perfect cell phone for seniors. It has a dial tone, it's got big buttons, a big screen and you can press a button and talk to an operator at any time... dad loves it.

This phone is so simple to use it's amazing. I would recommend it to anyone who's looking for something easy to use every once in a while, or those that don't have much technology experience and don't need all the bells and whistles of the "smart phones".
